'Word of their Testimony'
1. Water Baptism
Mat 28:19-20 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
Water baptism is the sign that the new believer has completely surrendered himself to obey and serve our Lord Jesus.
Rom 6:3-4 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
All sincere new believers, having accepted the gospel of Christ, will demand water baptism for his Holy Spirit within will convict him to love Jesus and to obey His commands.
During the Apostolic Age, before anyone was baptized, he must believe and understand:-
a) God is One, but reveals Himself to men as the Triune Godhead (Holy
Trinity), so that man can learn from:-
1. God the Father - the Creator of heavens and earth
2. God the Son - the Word made flesh. He died on the cross for the propitiation of our sins. On the third day He rose from the dead.
3. God the Holy Spirit - lives in every born again Christian and empowers him with His anointing, gifts, truth and guidance.
b) the gospel of Christ or grace
1. Jesus was the Word made flesh
2. He died on the cross for the propitiation of our sins,
3. He was buried,
4. On the 3rd day, He rose from the dead.
5. Every believer will be seal with the Holy Spirit of redemption.
Mat 3:11b ...but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am
not worthy to carry. He will baptize you
with the Holy Spirit and fire.
2. Baptism with the Holy Spirit
(of truth)
John 14:15-17, 26 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever — the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.... But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”
When we keep Jesus' commandments, He will baptize us with the Holy Spirit of truth. With the Spirit of truth within us, we will be able to know the truth of God's attributes, will, and works. We will also know the truth in Jesus' words, teachings, will and parables in the Gospels and Epistles. We will also be able to understand prophecies, end-time signs and events. With this truth we are free from all bondages.
3. Baptism with Fire (Spirit of
Christ)
Rom 8:9b-11 Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
All those who have perfected their love for God will be baptized with fire or the Spirit of Christ, so that they can become living sacrifices for Jesus.
Just as our Lord Jesus lay down His own life for our sins, they will joyfully lay down their lives for the brethren.
Paul and Stephen are examples of those baptized with fire.
Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
