'Endtime Overcomers'
'Blood of the Lamb'
Mat 28:18-20 And
Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me
in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make
disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching
them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you
always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
Just before our Lord went back to heaven,
His final commandment was the Great Commission, whereby we are to reach all men
with the gospel of Christ, and then make disciples of them by teaching them to
observe all the commands, words and teachings of Jesus in both the Gospels and
Epistles.
John 5:46 “For if
you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. ”
In the OT, John the Baptist and even our
Lord Jesus and His disciples taught the water baptism of repentance. Any Jew
who accepted the water baptism not only believed Moses, but later also Jesus as
his Messiah.
John 5:47 “But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit
After the Jews had
believed the gospel and were saved, they were baptized in the name of
1. God the Father
2. God the Son (Word made flesh)
3. God the Holy Spirit
This ensures
Christians understand the Almighty God is One but reveals Himself to men as the
Triune Godhead or Holy Trinity.
Jesus given to His
Son
Luke 1:31 And behold,
you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name
Jesus.
Jesus was the name given by the Father
to His Son before He was even born to the virgin Mary.
John 17:12 While I was
with them in the world, I kept them in Your name (Jesus). Those whom You gave
Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the
Scripture might be fulfilled.
Jesus is God's name, which He gave to
His Son before His birth. Jesus, the
Name above all names, is the only name of our Almighty God. All His other
so-called Names are just His attributes.
Jesus the Name above
all Names
Phil 2:9-11 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and
given Him the name which is above every
name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow , of those in heaven,
and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue
should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Since God had
exalted the name of Jesus above all
names and that at the name of Jesus all knees in heaven must bow, it is clear
that the name of our Almighty God (the Triune Godhead) is Jesus
Baptized in the Name
of Jesus
Acts 2:38 Then
Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins;
and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Since Jesus is the name of our Almighty
Triune Godhead or Holy Trinity, baptizing new believers in the name of Jesus is
the same as baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit.
Col 2:9 For in Him
(Jesus) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;
